Nurse Practitioner
If you are a person who loves working for people and taking care of them, a career in nursing may be just right for you. In today’s world, there is an increasing demand for qualified professional nurse practitioners who are fully equipped to take full care of patients suffering from a variety of different ailments. There are many kinds of jobs that a nurse practitioner can get, with various levels of qualifications. A nurse practitioner is required to devote his or her life to the healthcare of other people – and some people are characteristically suited for this kind of a job. A nurse practitioner is required to be attentive and well qualified in different medical procedures including assisting doctors and taking care of patients around the clock. A nurse practitioner can be hired by a hospital or by private individuals to take care of bedridden people – or people who have certain specific ailments – or need constant supervision.
Job Description and Duties
A nurse practitioner needs to be fully qualified to take all-round care of the health of a person – this includes the requirement of a basic – or a specialized level – in medicinal treatment. A nurse practitioner should be able to assist the doctor during medical procedures, control, restrain and assist the patient wherever and whenever required and supervise the patient, documenting his or her health charts and discussing his or her condition with the doctor. Depending on the kind of job that a nurse practitioner has, he or she may be expected to take full time care of the ill, the wounded, the infirm, the handicapped, babies or elderly people and assist them in their daily routine, administering their daily dosages of medicine or injections, feeding and cleaning them as required. A nurse practitioner must be very hardworking and conscientious in order to climb up the ladder to a position where he or she need not put in that much hard and unrewarding work – and can, instead, devote his or her time to research or administration duties.
Educational Qualifications
A nurse practitioner must have a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Nursing schools and training hospitals offer good courses and a nurse practitioner may broaden his or her employment prospects by getting a further Master’s degree in Nursing Science – or a specialized nursing field that he or she is most interested in.
Employment Outlook
The salary rate of a nurse depends largely on the kind of nursing he or she is specialized in and what kind of a job he or she has. If you want to become a nurse practitioner, your salary will depend largely on the kind of nursing you specialize in and your level of experience, which will get you all the better jobs. The number of jobs available to the nurse practitioner increases at a climbing rate, along with an increase in the average salary that a nurse practitioner can expect.
