But what do these guys actually do? For one, they have to prepare a program for a specific client who has hired him to keep him fit for various purposes. It could be a golf or tennis tournament, it could be the Olympics or even a world ballet championship for which a very high degree of fitness and training is required to achieve the high standards called for. He will usually draw out a plan keeping the specific requirements of his client in view where he will get to work on the client according to schedule that he prepares. Does a Personal Trainer’s Job Require any Educational Qualifications?
Requirement of qualifications depends on the country in question. There are personal trainers who have gone on to complete a four year degree or even higher in physical education which makes them ideal for Universities and for the purpose of training and teaching other personal trainers. Most however, pass a certification exam where they have to learn about the human anatomy, muscles, joints and nerves, weights and exercises. Other areas of learning which is thought to be important for a personal trainer is resuscitation and automatic external defibrillator which could come very useful when clients are under stressful training sessions. A personal trainer will also find that if they get themselves certified by a reputed agent, it will be much easier for them to find a job because when it comes to employment in places like a health club or fitness center, employers always feel better if they have trainers who are qualified in CPR and AED.

A personal trainer’s pay can vary according to the work he does and more importantly for whom he does it. His pay might not be great at the start. If he can however prove himself to a good personal trainer and starts getting more and more clients, the spread of his reputation through word of mouth will improve his chances of asking for higher charges for his services. What other Work is Involved in the Duties of a Personal Trainer?
If working in a club or gym, a personal trainer must have a good knowledge about the many exercises machines that are used in these places. He should not only know about the fundamentals, but also have a basic technical knowledge about the machines concerned so that minor repairs can be carried out in case of a breakdown. Furthermore, a personal trainer must also know about dietary requirements, and be aware of any illnesses and medications taken by his clients so that appropriate action could be taken if necessary.
